Mauro Franchino Gattinara

Wine name: Gattinara
Producer: Mauro Franchino
Vintage: 2013
Appellation: Gattinara Docg
Grape Varieties: Nebbiolo
Vineyards: 3 ha planted in 1967 on the banks of Sesia river on very shallow soils derived from the decomposition of the porphyry of mount Rosa, with very low pH which gives the classic mineral, iron ore, rusty profile of these wines
Winemaking: Manual harvest with grape selection. Fermented in concrete vats for about 2 weeks. Aged in big oak vats. Aged in bottle for minimum 6 months
Ageing: 4 years in oak casks
Total Production: 3000 bottles
Commentary: A wine of marvellous distiction and elegance. Wonderful nose of violets, ripe red berries, showing mineral notes such as iron ore and graphite along with wet leather. The mouth is firm, tense, due to a lively acidity perfectly integrated; the texture is masterly with the classic Gattinara's tannins giving emphasis and dynamic to the palate and to the after taste. One of the best wine of our catalogue . Not to miss
